JAMES B. ATKINS, FAIA
Jim Atkins’ experience in the design and construction industry spans almost 50 years. From operating as a subcontractor during his years in architecture school, to serving as Construction Manager on a solar energy research facility for the University of Texas at Arlington after graduation, to his 30+ years as an architect in senior management in a top ten international architectural firm, his skills were honed on projects of every size and complexity.
Jim’s experience as an architect includes Project Manager, Construction Contract Administrator, Director of Construction Services, Chief Operations Officer, Chief Risk Management Officer, and Principal-in-Charge. His industry contributions include co-authorship of the 2007 documents while on the AIA Documents Committee, insurance industry liaison on the AIA Risk Management Committee and The AIA Trust, and service as a 2017 United States delegate to the International Union of Architects World Congress in Seoul, Korea as Chairman of the AIA International Committee.
Jim’s credentials were accrued through direct experience with the disciplines and processes that make up the design and construction industry. His large resume of projects delivered as an architect, his experience in construction, and his industry risk management experience has given him skilled expertise as an industry consultant and an architect’s standard of care expert.
